Postdoctoral Research Assistantship in Network Science and Complex Networks
The Institute for Networked Systems at the RWTH Aachen University research focuses on different networks. The main emphasis is on communications systems and their applications to different field>s, but an increasing number of projects are also studying general network properties and emerging aspects of “network science” and complex networks. The general aim is to better understand complex networks both in Nature and engineered systems. In order to strengthen our research in this domain we are looking for a postdoctoral research assistant in the general domain of network science and complex networks.
Your profile
You have a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics or similar domain that provides good analytical skills for work. The proven research track record with publications is required. We will also consider also highly talented young researchers, who have recently finalized or will finalize their Ph.D. degree. Capability to collaborate with other international research groups and research sponsors is assumed. Fluency in English is a requirement. We do not require German knowledge, but German speakers are encouraged to apply. The applicants should have good communication skills, be able to perform in teams and be highly motivated to conduct top quality research.
Your duties
The position is reserved for the focus area of network science and complex networks. The specific research topics would be agreed with the selected post-doctoral research assistant. There will be high level of independence and although we have on-going projects in this area also opportunity to propose own research topics to build independent research trajectories within the institute. The scope of this call is broad, so the successful applicant background can be either theoretical or more simulation and application oriented. The general working area would be to study either theoretical and methodological aspects of network science and complex networks, or to apply such methods to different fields such as mobile communications, social networks, system biology and generalized networked systems including transport and energy networks.
Please send your application including CV, list of publications, short description of research accomplishments and future plans by e-mail or by post to the address provided below.
Please arrange also for three letters of references to be sent directly to Prof. Mähönen.
