PhD or Post-Doc opening in Economic Evaluation of Soil Ecosystem Services at University of Iceland, The University of Iceland has a PhD or a Post doctoral position available within the SoilTreEC research project. The overall aim of SoilTrEC is to understand the life-cycle of soils within the critical zone of the Earth`s surface and development of methodologies to maintain and enhance soil functions and manage soils sustainably for future generations. The funding for this project comes from the European commission FP7, and is a collaborative project between researchers from Europe, United States and Asia.
Objective
The PhD or the Post-doctoral candidate is to develop methodology and carry out evaluations of the economic value of soil ecosystem services. The aim is to enable more thorough economic evaluation of the economic consequences of different land use management decisions in different agricultural systems.
Qualifications PhD or Post-Doc opening in Economic Evaluation of Soil Ecosystem Services at University of Iceland

Applicants for the PhD position should have received an MS degree in economics such as environmental economics or ecological economics, environmental sciences, soil sciences or related fields. Applicants for the post-doctoral position should have received a PhD degree in economics such as environmental economics or ecological economics, environmental sciences, soil sciences or related fields. All applicants should have experience in economic evaluation of ecosystem services.
The appointment for the post-doctoral position is for two years, but the appointment for the PhD position is for three years, preferably beginning September 1, 2011. The candidate will be selected based on academic and research record including publications, research interests, recommendations, and compatibility of background.
