The laboratory LISE (Model Driven Engineering Laboratory for embedded
and real-time systems), part of the CEA LIST (450 researchers in the
field of software-intensive systems, see
http://www-list.cea.fr/gb/index_gb.htm) has an open position for a
research assistant.
The laboratory offers a creative international environment, a
possibility to conduct highly competitive research on a global scale and
involvement in teaching. There are plenty of opportunities to cooperate
with national and international partners. The lab is responsible, within
CEA LIST, for research activities related to methods and tools for the
development of real-time embedded systems. In this scope, one of the
prevailing themes of the laboratory is the application of model-driven
approaches to real-time embedded systems development. The lab has a
recognized expertise in this field, both on the academic and industrial
side. We participate in numerous European and national research projects
(Artist2, Atesst, OPEES, CESAR, VERDE...), have steady and close
relations with some major actors of the domain, and are strongly
involved in international standardisation bodies like the Object
Management Group - we were for instance responsible for a major part of
the UML profile MARTE dedicated to real-time and embedded systems
modelling and analysis (www.omgmarte.org).
In the context of a joint project with Fraunhofer ESK in Munich
(Germany), the lab seeks to study self-adaptive systems in the context
of automotive applications. We want to use a component-oriented approach
that embeddeds (self-) descriptions of the components and their
interconnections, i.e. a kind of architecture model at runtime. Because
existing design methodologies are not sufficient to design self-adaptive
software systems, the objective of the project is the creation of an
interactive design methodology for these systems based on UML and the
profile MARTE. The latter is used in particular to specify
non-functional requirements related for instance to timing and
performance requirements. Performance estimations are obtained by
simulating the (timing) behavior before the system is deployed on the
real target.
The position is funded for a period of 1 year with the option to extend
the period by another year.
The candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent with top performance in a
field that is closely related to computer science. He should have a good
background in software engineering, modeling and/or the embedded and
real-time domain.
Applications shall be sent by e-mail to ansgar.radermacher@cea.fr or
postal mail to
