Doctoral students in Gender Studies (Tema Genus) formally based at the Department of Thematic Studies

At the Department of Thematic Studies research, research training, graduate and undergraduate education are carried out in multi- and interdisciplinary milieux and organized within the framework of four thematic units: Child Studies, Gender Studies, Technology and Social Change and Water and Environmental Studies. In addition to doctoral programmes, the Department of Thematic Studies also hosts international master’s programmes, programmes at undergraduate level and independent courses within Geography, Science for Sustainable Development, Gender Studies, and Thematic Natural Science. The Department also hosts three centres.

Description of the work
Applications are invited for 2+2 year postdoctoral research position in the research group of Professor Eva Hellstrom-Lindberg and Guest Professor Sten Eirik Jacobsen at the Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine (HERM).
The main focus of the position will be to conduct research projects aiming to unravel the cellular and molecular defects in the hematopoietic system of patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Hellstrom-Lindberg and Jacobsen have a strong track record in related studies (Pellagatti A et al, Proc Natl Acd Sci USA 2007; Tehranchi et al,N Engl J Med 2010).
Applicants should have a PhD in a biology related area with significant experience in MDS, leukemia or normal hematopoiesis research, and a strong publication track record including recent high impact publications. Experience of advanced flow cytometry is an advantage.

We are looking for a highly motivated person with a background in molecular biology/biochemistry/bio-technology or similar, to join the vascular biology division. The project will be run by Lars Jakobsson in a dynamic environment consisting of five other research groups (Christer Betsholtz, Ulf Eriksson, Kristian Pietras, Jonas Fuxe and Johan Björkegren) with a total of approximately 40 employees.
