Greetings from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore .
We are pleased to inform you that applications are now open for our prestigious Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) Fellowships for the 1-year Master in Public Management (MPM) programme. The LKY Fellowship provides an unparalleled opportunity for Indonesian officials to network with their counterparts in other Asian countries who are being groomed as future leaders.
The LKY Fellowship is arguably one of the most prestigious scholarships given to non-Singapore citizens by the Singapore Government. Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the fellowship is valued in excess of one-hundred thousand dollars per student making it one of the most generous scholarships globally. The fellowship provides a unique opportunity for public sector officials from Asia to study one semester at the LKY School and a second at the Harvard Kennedy School . Moreover, LKY Fellows benefit from a five-week attachment with a Singapore Government Ministry or Statutory Board which aims to deepen candidates’ understanding of policy making and implementation in Singapore and encourage reflection on its relevance to their own country.
Every year a select group of around 20 to 25 senior officials from all over Asia come together in Singapore in January in the MPM classroom. The typical LKY Fellow is an Asian government official or professional with over 8 years of work experience and a proven trajectory in positions of leadership, high-level decision making, and a strong commitment to public service. This year we have admitted a high profile classroom of senior government officials from China, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia to debate, analyze and share ideas on how to exercise effective leadership and good governance in an increasingly complex and inter-dependent world. The MPM 2011 cohort includes officers from the Indian Administrative Service, Ministries of Foreign Affairs of China and Vietnam , a Supreme Court Judge from the Philippines and the Executive Director of Greenpeace, SE Asia .
From Indonesia , we have 11 MPM alumni including Budi Kuncoro, Advisor, Governance Reform Support for Hickling (CIDA) and Pery Irawan from The Secretariat of the Vice-President of Indonesia.
Given the unique value proposition of the Lee Kuan Yew Fellowship, we strongly believe that Indonesian civil servants and professionals will greatly benefit from enrolling in the MPM classroom.
The official deadline for applications is June 30th, 2011 for the academic year commencing January 2012. Application details can be found on our website at http://www.lkyspp.nus.edu. sg/Master_Public_Management. aspx
