Spring Graduate School Scholarships 2012  in Dept. Energy Science, Sungkyunkwan University

The Department provides financial support for full tuition fees and monthly subsidy of 700,000 Korean won on average for all students. Besides, students with excellent performances will be granted with Outstanding Graduate Student Award. The Department of Energy Science (DOES) was founded at the Sungkyunkwan University, Korea, which has a close partnership with the global company, SAMSUNG. Established from the World Class University (WCU) program funded by the Korean Government, DOES has invited the several world-renown overseas scholars.

Eligibility
Applicants for Combined Master’s-Doctorate Program should have earned a degree that is equivalent to a Korean bachelor’s degree or should be supposed to obtain a bachelor’s degree by February 2012 Applicants for Ph.D. Program should have earned a degree that is equivalent to the Korean master’s degree or should be supposed to obtain a Master’s degree by February 2012

The above three Departments in Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo, offer opportunities of advanced study and academic research to foreign students under the Special Graduate Program in Engineering for Systems Innovation. The program involves Master’s (two years) and Doctoral (three years) courses leading to the corresponding degrees. Accepted applicants to the program will be enrolled in the next winter semester, which will begin on October 1, 2012. Lectures and instructions for research are given generally in English. Japanese language courses are optionally available.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS), The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2009 to strengthen Canada`s ability to attract and retain the world`s top-tier doctoral students. Vanier scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health.
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS) was created to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and to establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. It is worth $50,000 per year for three years and is available to both Canadian and international PhD students studying at Canadian universities.
Eligibility
The Vanier CGS program aims to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health.
Both Canadian and international students are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier CGS.
In an effort to support students in broadening their research horizons and seeking new challenges, the Vanier CGS program strongly encourages candidates to pursue their studies beyond the university that granted their undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a research-intensive university with globally acknowledged strengths in science and engineering. Through its four colleges with 12 schools, and two autonomous entities, the National Institute of Education and S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, NTU provides high quality global education to more than 23,000 undergraduates and 10,000 graduate students. The Nanyang President`s Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is a competitive and prestigious scholarship scheme designed to encourage outstanding graduates or final-year students to take their first step towards a leading research career by studying for a doctoral degree programme (PhD) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), one of Asia`s leading research universities. Funding will be provided for up to 4 years for NPGS awardees.
Number of awards available
Up to 30 NPGS awards will be made available in each Academic Year. Successful candidates will be known as Nanyang President`s Graduate Scholars.
Minimum qualifications
To qualify for a NPGS award, you must have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent at Bachelor`s level and applicants should also demonstrate excellent research abilities. The PhD research will be in any topic agreed between you and your chosen NTU supervisor within the research activities of NTU. At the time of application, if you have not yet completed your undergraduate degree programme, you will need to furnish documentation from your university that you are on track to get a First Class Honours degree or equivalent. Failure to do so will disqualify you from the NPGS award, in which case you may be considered for other NTU PhD research scholarships, subject to meeting the selection criteria.
Qualification
During the first year, you will be expected to take relevant courses and to work towards passing the qualifying examination. In the event that this qualification is not met, there will be no conversion to a Masters degree for the NPGS awardees.
Stipend and allowances
The NPGS award terms are:
  1. Monthly stipend of S$3200
  2. Full support of tuition fees
  3. Conference allowance for two major overseas conferences in the 4-year period
  4. One-time IT allowance of S$1500
  5. Annual grant of S$500 for journal subscription or book purchase
  6. Thesis preparation allowance
  7. Priority for subsidized campus accommodation
Teaching
Upon passing the qualifying examination, NPGS awardees will be expected to undertake some undergraduate teaching (up to a limit of 10 hours per week). Awardees will be reimbursed if their teaching hours exceed what is required by the framework of their PhD training. Undergraduate teaching contributions will demand a high level of English language proficiency and you may be required to undertake English language courses as necessary in your first year.
Nationality
There is no restriction as to the nationality of candidates but, all things being equal preference will be given to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents.
Application
Application for AY2012-13 will be open from 1 Oct 2011 to 15 Nov 2011. Applicants who are interested to apply for the August 2012 or January 2013 intake should apply during this period.

Graduate School of Business Scholarships


Graduate School of Business Scholarships from Asian Institute of Management`s W. SyCip Best and Brightest full scholarship program offers the top undergraduate students with high GMAT/AIMAT scores, and solid work background MBA or MM full tuition scholarship, economy air fare from and to the student`s home country, lodging at the AIM dormitory, and a monthly stipend. Mr. Washington SyCip, one of the founders of the Institute is funding this program. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, all admission requirements must be submitted.

Graduate School of Business Scholarships Conditions

1. Open to all nationalities.
2. Students will be accepted based on top academic records and entrance test scores (GMAT scores of at least 650), excellent work experience, and strong potential contribution to the AIM community.


3. Final candidates will be subjected to a rigorous interviewing and judging process. Candidates may be asked to submit additional letters of reference.
4. Student must maintain a constant position of top 5% of the MBA class in cumulative GPA for the entire duration of the MBA or MM programs. This position will be reviewed after each module or grading period.
5. Student must perform a fellowship research and service program for the W. SyCip GSB Associate Dean during the last 8 months in residence at AIM.
